This year the theme of the 8th Green Yayla Culture, Arts and Environment Festival is “Bees and Traditional Beekeeping” which is organized annually by the GOLA Culture, Arts and Ecology NGO in Eastern Black Sea Region.
Festival will meet with the local people and participants in various villages of Artvin and Rize on 16th, 17th and 18th of August 2013. Gola NGO has dedicated the festival to the memory of İlyas Can, an omniscient of nature and traditional beekeeper who died in a tragic accident last year.
First day is in the Kamilet Valley – Arhavi, second day in the Başköy (Mxigi) village – Hopa, third day in the Cennet (Ç’enneti’) village – Rize, Fındıklı, are all locations where the festival will take place. Thematic events of the festival stand out: such as extracting honey from hives, various food types prepared from honey, traditional hive construction and placement on a tree, LandArt exhibition curated by Denizhan Özer.
Producing, working and performing on stage with the intensity of the bees in a hive, Kardeş Türküler music group is preparing to celebrate their 20th anniversary with a great concert at the foothills of Kackar Mountains.
Gola Laz Folk Music Children’s Choir, EBRULİ Rhythm Group of Deniz Yıldızı Association of People with Mental Disabilities from Ordu, Re-Cycle and Rhythm Atelier by Şafak Velioğlu, Emre Pehlivanlar & Ali Baran Concert, Bagpipe and Erbane (Tambourine) Concert are among the intriguing activities of the festival. Annual “Blacksea Women’s Stage” concerts will continue to take place this year with special workshops and performance of the BGST Women Musicians and BGST Dancers.
