Lazuri Visinapamt / “We Are Speaking Laz Language” Workshop

Laz language, one of the archaic language Eastern Black Sea Region, is in danger of extinction. As Gola Culture, Art and Ecology Association, we started the Lazuri Visinapamt / “We Are Speaking Laz Language” workshop in 2010 with the motivation of researcher-author Selma Koçiva's "Lazuri School", which she started within Kadıköy Aka-Der. The workshop, which is open to the participation of anyone living in Istanbul and interested in Laz language, continued for four years at the association center in Beyoğlu. The workshop was conducted with speaking together, writing in Laz language, translation studies and singing together. Also, the workshop was enlivened with participant and support of our friends which native Laz language speakers and artist in some weeks. Young people who understand but cannot speak Laz language living in İstanbul, and students, who wanted to work Laz language as academically, more interested in Lazuri Visinapamt / “We Are Speaking Laz language” workshop. The workshop was continued actively on Facebook page with our young friend Erol Kant’s responsibility. The page is still open.
